Possum Kingdom Fireworks are launched from Hell’s Gate, the most well known landmark on Possum Kingdom Lake. Two massive cliffs lines stand as gates to the entry to a beautiful cove. The Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce fireworks are said to be one of the most incredible fireworks displays in the state of Texas on the fourth of July. On July fourth weekend, you can watch by land or boat. If by boat then plan on arriving early to get a spot in the cove. This is because boaters come from all over Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma to see this fireworks show. This fireworks show is one of a kind. By land, families enjoy viewing the annual Hell’s Gate Fireworks Show from the grounds of YMCA Camp Grady Spruce, with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. and closing at 8:45, no exceptions. Entry fee is $5 per person. Children age 3 and under are free. There will be activities for children and a food vendor on site. Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets and also a picnic. The PK Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event which is funded solely by donations. They seek to raise $30,000 (cost of the fireworks show) to keep this 29 year Hell’s Gate Fireworks Show tradition going.
